moving along

Dreaming, Life's thoughts 1 Comment »

The days are busy with all that needs doing to be able to go off on our adventure. It’s this odd combination of life as usual, excitement and anticipation for what’s to come… and a whole other piece which still feels like jumping off a cliff.

One of the things that’s keeping me in cliff diving mode is around my earthly possessions.  For those who don’t know me, i’m a tad attached to my things. Not in the tv, stereo, microwave kind of stuff. More in the artifacts collected on a beach, bricks from the base of a french fort, bags of sand from beaches i’ve been, things my kids made me… you know the STUFF of life.

Packing this time around means every thing i own, needs a judgment call on it.  Do we keep it and store it? do we need it with us? do the boys need it? do we get rid of it???  Which for the most part feels very freeing, but other times there’s a nagging sensation that i’m going to regret some decisions in my practical haste! Or that i’m going to miss it being around me. I farmed out a bunch of my favorite art pieces over the weekend and felt a small pang on leaving them behind.

The upside is obvious, and i’m still very much in that mode. The upside to letting go of possessions is each thing that goes in a box, each thing that gets crossed off the list is another step closer to taking off with my girl in our little coocoon to parts and adventures unknown.

And right now, the beauty of the great unknow is magical. No solid plan, no set frame of how it will look is an amazing gift.

myhero4we got  official with a small o (official with the big O comes over the weekend) news that the sale of the house is a done deal.  Amazing, still can’t believe it’s all happening.

Course many a detail remains before we are actually off on our adventure… bottom line is it at least starts to unfold april 24th, which is the day we move out.

WOW, holy fuck

We have begun to  put ourselves out there in internet land. Joining groups and forums of this airstream/travelling community. We are deffinatly starting to build a community there already.

I had posted something on one of the forums late last week, and this lovely guy commented back. He and his partner (wheee gay airstreamers!) lived nearby and would we be interested in getting together…. would we?? We leaped at the opportunity.

It was an amazing connection. Felt immediatly comfortable with them, we chatted up a storm, fast friends right away. I love when that happens.

Two lovely guys, spend the winter travelling or around these parts, and own a campground in PEI over the summer months. They even needed a website, so your’s truly is building one for them (www.baysidervcampground.com).

In our chatter over coffee, they had a million helpful things to say, directions to point us in, are wanting to introduce us to the people they know… all that good stuff! We think PEI might just have to be on our list of places to go! The bonus was they also came over and ohhh and ahhhh ed over our airstream dream, which was nice!

All these things falling into place amaze me every day.

If i stop too long and think i get a little scared, worry and get bogged down in that old ego… but if i hold my arms out, take a deep breath and imagine myself flying in the sky… i’m a superhero!

mystical trees whispering the secrets of the universe high above, as we mere mortals tread lightly amongst their roots

hiking1I think i’ve discovered a place in the world that speaks of home… Santa Cruz

The most stunning area of the US this ocean/mountain spot. Beautiful hills and valleys, Redwood forests, more moderate climate, all punctuated by the ocean and all it’s beauty.

I know i’ve said that before of Northampton, but there’s an added element out here that can’t be ignored… the ocean.  Oh the ocean… it calls to me like nothing else. We’ve managed to get to spend time beside it almost every day, and that’s added to the pull.

ocean1

We spent a couple of days with deb’s daughter and bf, who live there. We had some lovely times with them. One of the afternoons while bf was working, the girls spend some time on the cliffs on the ocean just chatting and catching up with her life. It was lovely. My girl was in heaven.

Yesterday bf’s mother took us on a hike in the Redwood Forest ,  it was spectacular. I tried taking pictures, but somehow none of them capture the beauty and scope of it. (the below one comes somwhat there). It was nice to get to know her, they seem to be a good safety net for deb’s daughter so far away.

In the evening, we had another family supper with bf’s family, more happy birthday celebrations, laughter, chatter all while watching the sun set over the ocean horizon…

the snow and cold seem pretty far away at the moment!

Vision Board 2009

Dreaming No Comments »

Every year i do a vision board, something i put as my wallpaper on my computer so it’s always there reminding me of what i want to bring into my life. Yesterday we worked on our vision boards, ready for 2009. (click on it to see large version)

visionboard09

Feel like life is very abundant of late, my hopes and dreams for the new year are more on the maintenance side of the spectrum. One of the areas of manifesting is of the airstream… today i’m working on a new blog idea around it. A site that talks about our travels, preperation for travelling etc. Just bough a domain name, and am putting up something so stay tuned!

Winter Solstice

Dreaming, Life's thoughts No Comments »

newmoon.jpgOne of my facebook friends posted this:

Having recently crossed the threshold of this year’s powerful Winter Solstice, we approach 2009 swiftly with a little more sun on our side and great opportunity to manifest our desires for the upcoming year with the new moon in Capricorn tomorrow (December 27, 7:22am EST).

The time is upon us to release the old and to welcome the new; what do you wish to let go of and what do you wish to bring into your life?

A simple yet effective way to manifest:

  • Make a list of everything you want to leave behind in the coming year. Draw a picture to represent each item and burn one at a time, saying goodbye.
  • Make a list of the things you would like to see come into your life this new year. Draw a picture to represent each of these as well and burn each item, one at a time, welcoming them.

Which was interesting as deb and i were just talking about it on a walk with the doggies this morning. I had done something similar last year, and wanted to do it again with her. It was a great way to send out the old and bring in the new. One aspect that I had added last year was a gratitude list of the past year.

Am not sure what i want to let go of yet, need to give it some thought (not sure i was 100% successful in last year’s list… some were dead on tho). I also wanted to find a way to create in words what is essentially my vision board. Words that are a little less specific, and get more to the heart of dreams.

This is not THE airstream dream, snow/ice surrounding my baby is not what the dream looks like! As we were driving home from downtown in said snowstorm.. fighting the crazy montreal drivers, stuck in traffic for over 2 hours… we made a vow that this would be our last winter of snow… may the universe hear us!

As it’s wont to happen lately, people from the past keep surfacing on facebook. Yesterday a women i knew a long time ago asked to be my friend. It’s amazing how this happens, i’m a facebook adict for sure now. What better place to be than a fly on the wall of friends/family past, present and future!

Anyway… i digress as per. This woman and bf spend part of the year travelling in an rv (alas not an airstream… poor her) and posted this pic…

NOW THAT’S more what i had in mind as the airstream dream!!

laying under the silvery moon in a silvery cocoon

cooking.jpgMy sister’s here from germany with family for thanksgiving and Peter’s memorial on saturday. The week seems to have flown by too quickly.

The boys cooked up a feast on thanksgiving, that their grandfather aka Grumpy would have been proud of. Turkey, stuffing, an amazing potato/sweet potato pie, beans, pumpkin soup, pumpkin pie (both from an acutal pumpkin… go figure!), home made humus, chocolate cake, key lime pie…. a feast i tell ya!

As a result of having my little suburban bungalow filled with people, my girl and i have been sleeping in the airstream for the week. It’s been truly lovely. Even though we aren’t quite done the reno’s, and we are still in the back yard, it’s still amazing to be semi  “living” the airstream dream.

Laying there last night as the full moon shone in…. I still am constantly pinching myself.  Pictures up on flickr

floating along in a bubble high above the earth

daisy.jpg

Life is full of abundance these days, so full i feel like i’m in a dream. (if i wake up, i’m going to be some pissed!). The most amazing thing happened over the weekend as a part of the continuing dream.

I found and bought an air stream trailer. She’s a 27′ beauty, of a vintage age 1974. Even the way it all unfolded was a story in itself.

I went online Friday doing my usual search, and found this on on kajiiji, somewhere i’ve never considerd looking. Was actually looking for montreal air stream dealers, as i figured if i had the dream, i may as well actually step in side of one!

One of the first links googled was an ad, and after 3 years of checking out the older ones, knew this was a sweet deal. Made arrangements with the fellow (who turns out to be a pretty well known musician in the US, Ray Bonneville) to see it outside of montreal. We got a little lost, but this lovely farmer stopped and helped us. Rounded a corner and there she was, parked beside a lovely pond on the grounds of an amazing home.

The home actually belongs to a Canadian actor (foster someone… i was too shy to ask when he said he was an actor… he looks familiar, and it’s going to haut me till i figure it out!), and his artist wife http://www.susanvalyi.com/ (who’s work is stunning, we had a little studio tour…. telling you the whole thing was like a dream).

Fell in love right then and there, she’s a beauty. Deffinatly needs some work, but it’s more the blank canvas kind of work, than major structural. For now she’s going to be parked in the yard, many plans afloat, then who knows in the future, route 66 here i come.

Vision Board 3

cnv00502.jpgNow you know I believe in the power of creating a vision board for the year. If you envision it, then it will happen.

HEY SHE’s on my vision board.

Holy crap…  There i thought i was putting her to conjur up me a girl with a come hither look in my bed… who knew she’d leave her girlfriend of 14 years to be with me?

Question is do you think she’s going to be happy in the burbs of montreal? or will i have to move to the high life in LA? Booking the U-Haul as we speak.
